KUALA LUMPUR:
Almost 20 motor companies with a network of more than 1,000 registered service centres have agreed to accept the government’s RM1,000 Automotive Discount Voucher initiative, the finance ministry said today.

The voucher can be used for the repair of a water-damaged private vehicle or towards the replacement of a vehicle deemed to be a total loss.

The deadline for making use of the Keluarga Malaysia Automotive Discount Voucher is March 31, and vehicle owners should immediately make a claim from a registered service centre or authorised distributor, finance minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz said.

He said owners of vehicles damaged by floods can redeem the vouchers at service centres or authorised dealers. A direct deduction will be made from the total cost of repairs or from the cost of replacing new vehicles through invoices that will be issued by service centres and authorised distributors.

He said the government also welcomed the offer of a 50% discount on the cost of Perodua and Proton spare parts. Perodua has also waived the labour cost on repairs.

The companies which will accept the discount vouchers are:

  • Motor cars: Perodua, Proton, Tan Chong & Sons Motor (Nissan); UMW Toyota Motor; Honda Malaysia; Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia; Volvo Car Malaysia; TC Euro Cars (Renault); Mercedes-Benz Malaysia; BMW Malaysia; Sime Darby Motor Group (Ford, Hyundai and others); Mazda, Peugeot and KIA; TC Subaru; Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia.
  • Motorcycles: Hong Leong Yamaha Motor; Boon Siew Honda Sdn Bhd; Modenas; Mofaz Motorsikal Sdn Bhd; and KMSB Motors Sdn Bhd (Suzuki).
