PETALING JAYA:
The investigation paper in the case of a policeman who allegedly assaulted a woman in a lift of a building in Cheras has been completed and submitted to the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC).

Cheras district deputy police chief Annas Sulaiman confirmed this to FMT, adding that the policeman involved in the incident had also given his statement.

The man was alleged to have hit the woman repeatedly and dragged her out from the lift by her hair in a building along Jalan 2, Chan Sow Lin in Kuala Lumpur on Nov 17.

He had reportedly paid the woman RM2,500 in the hope of finding a life partner on a website but no matches had been found for six months.

Cheras district police chief Muhammad Idzam Jaafar previously said the case was being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.

Selangor police chief Arjunaidi Mohamed later said the policeman involved had been transferred to administrative duties until investigations were completed.

He also said the man was not a senior police officer but a detective with the rank of corporal.
