
In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 2,769,886 cases.
He said 2,862 patients had recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,698,613.
Meanwhile, 252 patients remain in intensive care, 196 of whom are confirmed Covid-19 positive and 56 suspected of being infected; 134 patients require respiratory assistance, with 82 patients Covid-19 positive and 52 suspected of being infected.
There were 2,510 local infections today, involving 2,411 Malaysians and 99 foreigners, and 332 imported cases, comprising 292 Malaysians and 40 foreigners.
Of these, only 1.7% of patients were in Category 3, 4 or 5 at the time of diagnosis.
Noor Hisham also said there were two new clusters reported today.
