They had hoped to voice their desire to ask the government to allow the withdrawal of RM10,000 under the i-Citra scheme.
A representative for the EPF contributors, Khairul Anuar Othman, hoped a meeting would be held with Amir in the near future.
He said they were only able to meet an EPF officer at the Jalan Raja Laut EPF office.
At a press conference in front of the EPF building, Khairul said his presence there was to represent the contributors and to voice the wishes and grievances of those facing difficulties in light of the recent floods.
He urged Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob and finance minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz to listen to the voices of EPF contributors.
“We contributors are in hardship and suffering.
“Assistance of RM1,000 from the government and zakat of RM600 is not enough for us due to expenses,” he said in the presence of 10 other contributors.
They had assembled in front of the EPF building at 2.45pm.
Khairul said a group of EPF contributors would send a memorandum to the prime minister in Parliament.
Earlier, FMT reported that a solidarity rally planned for EPF contributors in front of Sogo building this morning was cancelled after the organisers failed to obtain a police permit.
FMT found police had been monitoring the road in front of Sogo to the EPF building on Jalan Raja Laut since 8am.
Earlier, Tengku Zafrul shut the door on any further withdrawals from EPF to help flood and pandemic victims to safeguard their retirement benefits.
