3,997 new Covid-19 cases, 3 clusters

This brings the total number of infections to 2,754,513.

PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry has reported 3,997 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, up from the 3,683 cases reported yesterday.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 2,754,513 cases.

He said 3,894 patients had recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,681,390.

Meanwhile, 281 patients are warded in intensive care units (ICU), 213 of whom are confirmed Covid-19 positive and 68 suspected of being infected.

Of the patients in ICU, 155 required respiratory assistance, with 77 having tested positive for Covid-19 and the remaining 78 suspected of being positive.

There were 3,631 local infections today, involving 3,516 Malaysians and 115 foreigners, and 366 imported cases, comprising 335 Malaysians and 31 foreigners.

Of these, only 1.6% of patients were in Category 3, 4 or 5 at the time of diagnosis.

Noor Hisham also said there were three new clusters reported today.
