
He said it was the fourth consecutive month of double-digit growth since August.
“Malaysia’s exports in November posted a double-digit growth of 32.4% on a year-on-year basis, supported by both domestic exports and re-exports,” he said in a statement today.
“Domestic exports stood at RM93.7 billion and contributed 83.5% to the total exports, while re-exports registered RM18.5 billion, increasing by 23.9%.”
Uzir said the positive growth in exports was mainly attributed to higher exports to the US (+RM3.3 billion), followed by China (+RM2.9 billion) and Singapore (+RM2.6 billion).
Meanwhile, the expansion in exports was driven by electrical and electronic products (+RM5.9 billion), petroleum products (+RM5.1 billion) and palm oil and palm oil-based agricultural products (+RM3.9 billion).
He said total trade expanded by 34.9% from RM152.3 billion in November 2020 to RM205.5 billion, and trade surplus, with a value of RM18.9 billion, marked the 19th consecutive month of surplus since May 2020.
Uzir also noted that Malaysia’s total trade had surpassed the RM2 trillion mark for the first time, expanding by 24.6% from the corresponding period in 2020.
