2,897 new Covid-19 cases, 4 clusters

This brings the total number of infections to 2,746,833.

PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry has reported 2,897 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, up from the 2,757 cases reported yesterday.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 2,746,833 cases.

He said 3,434 patients had recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,673,084.

Meanwhile, 302 patients are warded in intensive care units (ICU), 244 of whom are confirmed Covid-19 positive and 58 suspected of being infected.

Of the patients in ICU, 169 required respiratory assistance, with 94 having tested positive for Covid-19 and the remaining 75 suspected of being positive.

There were 2,705 local infections today, involving 2,577 Malaysians and 128 foreigners, and 192 imported cases, comprising 178 Malaysians and 14 foreigners.

Of these, only 1.7% of patients were in Category 3, 4 or 5 at the time of diagnosis.

Noor Hisham also said there were four new clusters reported today.
