PETALING JAYA:
Dusun Tua assemblyman Edry Faizal Eddy Yusof was denied entry by police to Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s gotong-royong community clean-up event in Hulu Langat earlier today.

In a Twitter post, Edry said as the assemblyman for the constituency where the event took place, he went to greet the prime minister out of respect.

“But this morning, when I wanted to enter the location, the police did not allow me to enter.”

He then decided to move on since he “had a lot of other work to attend to” due to the flood crisis.

When contacted by FMT, Edry said he did not understand why he was denied entry to the event and was not given a reason by the police.

He said police had asked the public to make way and move their vehicles for the prime minister to arrive, making a fuss about those who did not comply.

“We were here before the water started rising and while the water was rising,” he said.

“Police only showed up after the worst had happened.”

He criticised the behaviour of the police and said the people of Dusun Tua were angry at the lack of efforts to assist flood victims.

“I have lots of work to do to assist the community recover from the floods, yet I took time off to greet the prime minister out of respect.

“The least the police could do was show me some respect, not because I am an assemblyman but because I am a human being.”
