Teoh Chuang Piau, who is leading the six-member team that arrived in Shah Alam on Monday, told FMT the volunteers had been busy with search and rescue operations around the state capital.
Four of the volunteers are from the Bukit Bendera Fire Volunteer Brigade. The other two are from the Paya Terubong brigade.
“We’ve rescued 15 to 18 flood victims and ferried them to the flood shelters,” Teoh said.

“Apart from conducting search and rescue operations, we’ve been distributing food and water to the victims at their homes.”
Teoh’s team is now stationed at Kampung Batu 10 in Cheras, where it is helping the victims clean their houses.
The team is assisted by the Bangi Fire Volunteer Brigade, which has deployed a fire truck and a water tanker for the cleaning efforts.
“We will be here until Thursday,” Teoh said. “Then we will be heading to Bentong in Pahang. We might be there until Sunday although we are still unsure about our plans since we need to look at the flood situation over there.”

The team has brought with it two boats, one 4×4 truck and a utility van for its operations.
The expenses for the operations are covered by the team members as well as contributions from two elected representatives.
“We received financial contributions from Bukit Bendera MP Wong Hon Wai as well as donations of water and food items from Air Itam assemblyman Joseph Ng Soon Siang,” Teoh said.
