SHAH ALAM:
Flood management at Taman Sri Muda is “progressing well” and carried out based on the circumstances in the area, National Security Council (MKN) director-general Rodzi Md Saad said today.

However, he said certain incorrect assumptions had been made earlier with regard to the situation.

“Sometimes we do not know what the flood is like. It will be different from place to place, and we make assumptions for each location. In this case, they were incorrect,” he told reporters after an inspection in Taman Sri Muda in Section 25 here.

Rodzi said on the whole, he found flood management at Taman Sri Muda to be progressing well.

“It is just that initially, there was so much rain, which fell (suddenly and without warning). We did not expect the water level to rise so high, so we had to deal with (all sorts of) problems.

“Nonetheless, all the government agencies did a good job, even though their families were also affected by the flood. Being government personnel, they were committed to giving the best service,” he said.

“Disaster management methods will differ depending on the circumstances of each flood and its features.

“Flood management methods need to be studied and considered by the operation commander before anything is implemented,” Rodzi added.
