In congratulating the coalition, Salleh Said Keruak said political competition between parties, rather than individuals, for a mandate is the key to stability.

“This is because the winning party or coalition would be able to determine who forms the new government,” he said in a Facebook post tonight.

Salleh also said based on last night’s results, Sarawakians preferred local parties and coalitions, such as GPS and PSB over national ones, like Pakatan Harapan.

Former prime minister Najib Razak said that there was a lot more development that the incoming state government would need to implement, particularly infrastructure.

“For me personally, the Pan Borneo Highway was just the start of what I had planned for Sarawak and there are other projects which would serve as a catalyst for the economy which I hope can be implemented,” he said in a Facebook post.
