Semenyih water treatment plant reopens

Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari says zero pollutants detected after three consecutive readings.

Water supply will resume to the affected areas in stages.
PETALING JAYA:
The Semenyih water treatment plant has reopened after being shut down this morning due to odour pollution in Sungai Semenyih.

In a Twitter post, Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari said the plant was reopened at 12.30pm after a zero-threshold odour number was recorded at its raw water source.

He said the zero-level pollutant readings were recorded three consecutive times.

“Latest: Three readings registered 0 TON at Semenyih WTP. Thus, WTP resumed operations at 12.30pm. Minimal disruption, with recovery in stages.

“Thank you to @luas_selangor and @air_selangor for swift action in overcoming this issue.” said Amirudin.

Media Selangor reported that water supply will be restored to the affected areas in stages.

Earlier today, FMT reported that a total of 463 areas in Selangor and Putrajaya were expected to face water disruptions due to the shutdown of the water treatment plant.
