Causeway Link, one of two designated bus operators, announced it will operate an additional 10 services between Larkin Sentral, Johor Bahru and Queen Street Singapore, in each direction, the Straits Times reported.
This will see an increase in the frequency of buses for the route from the current 16 to 26.
Tickets are currently available for purchase on the Causeway Link website.
The Malaysian bus company is one of two designated operators that have been given exclusive rights to ferry passengers across the causeway.
Causeway Link said that its quota for the land VTL service will increase by 720 tickets, to meet the demands of travellers.
Currently, the two designated operators are permitted to sell up to 1,440 tickets each per day under the VTL rules.
Transtar, the operator from Singapore, said it will also increase its services from Dec 20 onwards.
According to the Singapore daily, the company currently operates 16 buses between Woodlands, Singapore and Larkin Sentral, Johor Bahru, and will provide eight more buses daily for the route.
The increase in bus service frequency comes after Malaysia’s international trade and industry ministry (Miti) announced yesterday that the VTL via the Causeway will be fully opened to all travellers from Dec 20.
The VTL-land between Malaysia and Singapore was first launched on Nov 29 for fully vaccinated individuals but limited to only respective citizens and permanent residents.
Travellers will still be subjected to Covid-19 testing and further health requirements upon arrival at the destination.
