PETALING JAYA:
The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has warned that it will be keeping a close eye on the implementation of the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP), in which RM400 billion has been allocated to develop the country into a high-income nation over the next five years.

In a statement, committee chairman Wong Kah Woh said all projects undertaken by the government must be free of misappropriation, abuse of power and wastage.

“Ministries and government agencies need to know that ‘PAC is watching’ at all times during the implementation of projects and the spending of the people’s money.”

He said PAC proceedings began this morning, and that the finance ministry, the economic planning unit (EPU) and the prime minister’s department had been summoned to answer questions about the plan’s implementation.

“The finance ministry and EPU agreed to cooperate with the PAC in monitoring the implementation of the 12MP projects, especially mega projects. The PAC will set a quarterly schedule for these proceedings.”
