In a press conference today, Sim described the feud as a “family quarrel”.
Yesterday, it was reported that there was dissatisfaction over the candidacy of Wee Hong Seng, the Kuching South City Council mayor, in Padungan and that this had led to Kuching SUPP dissolving its election machinery in the constituency.
Division chairman Lily Yong said that Wee was not among the two candidates proposed to the party’s leadership.
“It’s a family quarrel, as far as I’m concerned. This is election time, and the interests of the people must come first. They don’t care about SUPP’s family quarrels,” Sim said when asked to comment on the matter.
He urged all party members voting in Padungan to support Wee as the GPS candidate.
Sim, the Batu Kawah incumbent, said Wee was a part of the team he had put together in Kuching to develop and transform the city.
“A vote for my team is a vote for me and a vote for me is a vote for my team,” he said, adding that he wanted the best for the people of Kuching.
In the Dec 18 polls, Wee will go up against DAP’s Chong Chieng Jen, Aspirasi’s Lina Soo and Parti Bumi Kenyalang’s Raymond Thong.
