MAHB to open tenders for 226 commercial units in airports

Prior to the pandemic, retailers and eateries contributed nearly half the company’s revenue.

Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad says it wants to attract local and global players to participate in offering new brands at its airports nationwide.
PETALING JAYA:
Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) has opened a tender exercise for 226 commercial lots at its airports, the company said.

This comes as global travel restrictions begin to ease and international travel slowly starts to pick up pace.

In a statement today, MAHB said the exercise was in the final stage of awards, with 808 lots tendered previously.

“This last leg of the tender for 226 commercial lots is the concluding phase to attract both local and global players to participate in offering new brands at our airports nationwide,” the company said.

“MAHB’s main aim is to enhance the retail offerings and provide a unique travelling experience to our airport guests.”

MAHB managing director Iskandar Mizal Mahmood said that before the pandemic, non-aeronautical businesses such as retail stores and eateries were responsible for nearly half the company’s revenue.

Commenting on efforts to offer more commercial units, he said: “We wanted to ensure that we are ready to welcome the return of passengers with exciting new retail offerings and experience, hence we welcome the participation of both local and global brands.”
