4,097 new Covid-19 cases, 6 clusters

This brings the total number of infections to 2,699,240.

PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry has reported 4,097 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, up from the 3,504 cases yesterday.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 2,699,240 cases.

He said 4,301 patients had recovered.

Meanwhile, 382 patients are warded in intensive care units (ICU), 330 of whom are confirmed Covid-19 positive and 52 suspected of being infected;.

Of the patients in ICU, 201 required respiratory assistance, with 144 having tested positive for Covid-19 and the remaining 57 suspected of being positive.

There were 4,079 local infections today, involving 3,821 Malaysians and 258 foreigners, and 18 imported cases.

Of these, only 2.1% of patients were in Category 3, 4 or 5 at the time of diagnosis.

Noor Hisham also said there were six clusters reported today.
