
Sarawak deputy police commissioner Mancha Ata said 85 polling centres with 111 streams will be opened from 7.30am to 5pm with 5,522 officers and personnel on duty to control security and ensure the early voting runs smoothly.
“Early polling centres include halls at the contingent police headquarters and district headquarters, resource centres, recreation rooms, meeting rooms and schools,” he said in a statement today.
For postal voters, the total number of applications from the police force was 1,200 with 705 having been approved by the Election Commission.
Mancha also said police had issued six compound notices amounting to RM31,000 to those violating SOPs set for the elections.
He said 39 investigation papers had been opened from Nov 30 until yesterday, while 1,837 applications for police permits had been received and approved for candidates and parties contesting in the polls.
