5,446 new Covid-19 cases, 17 clusters

This brings the total number of infections to 2,678,465.

PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry has reported 5,446 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, up from the 5,020 cases yesterday.

In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 2,678,465 cases.

He said 5,427 patients had recovered while 419 patients remain in intensive care, 324 of whom are confirmed Covid-19 positive and 95 suspected of being infected; 232 require respiratory assistance, with 147 Covid-19 positive and the remaining 85 suspected of being positive.

There were 5,426 local infections today, involving 5,056 Malaysians and 370 foreigners, and 20 imported cases, comprising 17 foreigners and three Malaysians.

Of these, only 1.6% of patients were in Category 3, 4 or 5 at the time of diagnosis.

Noor Hisham also said there were 17 clusters reported today.
