PETALING JAYA:
DAP has halted all seat negotiations with Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) and has announced its own candidates for the Dudong and Bawang Assan seats in the Sibu division.

DAP had previously invited PSB to hold talks on state seats, but PSB leaders did not respond to the invitation.

Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen announced Paul Ling as the candidate for Dudong and Amy Lau for Bawang Assan.

“With this announcement, negotiations with PSB on the allocation of seats is off,” he said at the DAP headquarters in Taman Rejang today.

Chong expressed regret that PSB appeared insincere in the issue of seat negotiations. Until today, DAP had yet to receive any updates from PSB.

“We are getting closer to nomination day, we believe PSB has refused to work with us,” he said.

“That is the reality of the situation, the negotiations have failed. We have shown sincerity and wanted to avoid a clash with PSB.”

Meanwhile, Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) will not be contesting in the Sarawak state elections.

“I don’t think Pejuang will be involved,” its chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad told reporters at the launch of Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali’s book at the Perdana Leadership Foundation office today.
