5,551 Covid-19 cases, 6 clusters

The total number of infections now stands at 2,649,578.

PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry has reported 5,551 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, down from the 5,806 cases yesterday.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 2,649,578 cases.

He said 5,301 patients had recovered, while 499 patients remain in intensive care, 362 of whom are confirmed Covid-19 positive and 137 suspected of being infected.

A total of 269 patients required respiratory assistance, with 157 patients Covid-19 positive and the remaining 112 suspected of being positive.

There were 5,528 local infections today, involving 5,304 Malaysians and 224 foreigners, and 23 imported cases.

Of these, only 1.4% of patients were in Category 3, 4 or 5 at the time of diagnosis.

Noor Hisham also said there were six clusters reported today.
