
JOHOR BAHRU: The Johor environment department (DoE) has arrested the director and manager of a metal-plating plant at the Pasir Gudang industrial estate to assist in an investigation into the water at Sungai Selangkah which turned greenish recently.
Its director, Mohd Famey Yusoff, said the director, in his 50s, and the manager, 35, were arrested yesterday afternoon.
He said the department had received complaints on the state of the river on Monday.
Personnel from the DoE’s Pasir Gudang branch later traced the green effluent to a drain at the factory.
He said samples of the effluent had been sent to the chemistry department for analysis.
