SHAH ALAM:
The High Court here has freed a grandson of actor P Ramlee and two others on a charge of trafficking in more than 4kg of cannabis three years ago.

Judicial commissioner Nurulhuda Nur’aini Mohamad Nor ruled that the prosecution had failed to prove the charge under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act beyond reasonable doubt against the actor’s grandson, Zakaria Nasir, 30, as well as Mohd Faizul Zulkipli, 37, and Mohammad Saifuddin Darmawan, 34.

The trio were jointly charged with trafficking in 4.67kg of cannabis at the Desa Idaman Apartment in Puchong on Jan 15, 2018.

They were also slapped with two charges of possession of 20.5gm of methamphetamine or syabu, and 0.95gm of erimin-5.

Zakaria’s lawyer, Latheefa Koya, said he and Saifuddin were visitors in the apartment unit when the authorities conducted the raid.

She said the prosecution could not prove that Zakaria had exclusive access to the unit.

Lawyers Rajpal Singh and Phan Yantong Nur Sarah appeared for Faizul, and Dir Kheizwan Ab Halim @ Kamaruddin represented Saifuddin. Deputy public prosecutor Mohammed Heikal Ismail appeared for the prosecution.
