KUALA LUMPUR:
Police have arrested four men on suspicion of being involved in two drug trafficking syndicates operating in the Klang Valley.

The suspects, in their 20s to 30s, were arrested in several raids which saw more than RM1.7 million in property and drugs seized.

Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief Yahaya Othman said the first raid saw three local men detained over a three-day period from Monday in two parking areas in Jalan Sultan Sulaiman and Gombak here.

He said that in another two raids, police seized 31.51kg of cannabis and 2,800 Erimin 5 pills in the car driven by the suspects.

“The value of confiscated property, vehicle and cash was more than RM74,000, while the drugs seized were valued at RM122,025,” he told reporters at the Kuala Lumpur contingent headquarters here.

Yahaya said the syndicate had been active since the middle of the year and used the car to store drugs for distribution in the local market and to close acquaintances.

Meanwhile, police arrested a 36-year-old local man in a raid at a factory in Kampung Cheras Baru here last Tuesday.

A total of 20.66kg of ketamine, 7.4kg of cannabis and 3.3kg of ecstasy pills, all worth RM1.52 million, was seized.

Yahaya said all the drugs seized could supply a total of 128,494 users.

The suspects have been remanded under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code and are being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, he added.
