“The process is ongoing,” he said to a question by Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman (Independent-Muar), without giving further details.
Syed Saddiq had asked for updates on medical marijuana and the hemp industry as the Pakatan Harapan administration had previously approved a piece of land in Kedah for research purposes.
Syed Saddiq had said that many youths faced mental health issues, including bipolar disorder, and the use of marijuana could be an alternative treatment to help overcome medical problems.
He said more than 40 countries had legalised medical marijuana, including the US, Australia, Canada, Argentina, Denmark and Thailand.
Health minister Khairy Jamaluddin had also said medical marijuana could be used in Malaysia if it passes national regulations.
