TANAH MERAH:
Police have arrested two men here for impersonating police officers and for their involvement in seven robberies.

Tanah Merah district police chief Zainuddin Md Yusuf said the suspects, aged 22 and 38, were nabbed separately on Friday and yesterday following a report by a motorcyclist.

The victim said he was robbed in Kampung Batu Jong, last Thursday evening by two men who were in a Proton Saga. Pretending to be policemen, they stopped him and asked him to hand over his belongings for inspection on suspicion of being a drug dealer.

“The victim, who was afraid, surrendered a sling bag, a wallet and two mobile phones. He later lodged a police report,” Zainuddin said.

Zainuddin said the two suspects had tested positive for drugs and had admitted committing seven robberies around Tanah Merah. Police seized the Proton Saga, 4,000 pills, five mobile phones, two face masks and cash amounting to RM1,752.

The suspects have been remanded for seven days from yesterday.
