DAP to ex-MB: We squabbled, but who toppled you?

PETALING JAYA:
Amanah and DAP may have squabbled in the previous Perak state government but it was Bersatu’s spats with two other parties that brought down the state government, a DAP leader said today.

Former state executive councillor Howard Lee said when Bersatu, PAS and Umno were at loggerheads, it resulted in Ahmad Faizal Azumu of Bersatu being removed as menteri besar.

“The spat between PAS, Umno and Bersatu led to the menteri besar being removed by Umno, who is an ally,” said Lee, who is Pakatan Harapan (PH) Youth chief.

Faizal was ousted as the menteri besar in a confidence vote in the Perak state assembly last December. He is now youth and sports minister in Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s government.

Two days ago, Faizal claimed that he had to manage quarrels every day as menteri besar of the PH state government. He said DAP and Amanah were always fighting for their own interests, worked behind the other’s backs and used each other for their personal interests.

Lee alleged that Faizal played off executive councillors against each other, not just those from different parties, but also those within the same party. “While there was tension between Amanah and DAP reps at times, we did not fight,” he said.
