PETALING JAYA:
Amanah president Mohamad Sabu and vice-president Adly Zahari are among Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders who want to take in the three party-hoppers for the Melaka state election, according to Rafizi Ramli.

In a Twitter post, the PKR vice-president claimed the two as well as a few PKR leaders were among those insisting on welcoming these “frogs” into PH’s fold for the polls.

In a separate Facebook post, he said the Amanah leaders believed that former Melaka chief minister Idris Haron and “others” would boost the coalition’s strength in the state.

“The problem is that they talk big in PH meetings. Outside, they’re all quiet because it’s a common practice now for PKR to get the flak and face the line of questioning.

“It’s time for the Amanah president and state party chairman to convince PH supporters that these political frogs can give a boost towards a PH win in Melaka,” he said today.

Describing this as a repeat of the past, Rafizi revealed that he and several others representing PKR at the PH presidential council meeting were strongly against Bersatu joining the coalition back in 2016.

He said they wanted Bersatu to be only accepted as an ally for the general election then, not a member of PH, so that the coalition’s decision-making would not be disrupted.

Rafizi said it was DAP and Amanah who insisted on Bersatu becoming a PH component party, citing PKR’s apparent weakness and disunity.

“At one point, an ultimatum was given, that if PKR insists on its own way, then it should not be with PH anymore because Amanah and DAP had decided to accept Bersatu.

“To keep PH intact, we had to agree to this with strict conditions.”

Bersatu eventually left the PH coalition in the wake of the Sheraton Move, which ultimately toppled the PH federal government.
