PETALING JAYA:
A customer who was caught on video raising a ruckus after she was denied entry into the Dior store in KLCC for not wearing a mask, has come under fire.

Netizens have labelled the women a “Karen”, a term often used to describe women who attempt to wield their white privilege. The term was trending on Twitter in Malaysia today, and was mentioned 65.1k times since the video was posted at noon.

The woman claims in the video that she was threatened by one of the staff at the store, saying that when she attempted to walk into the store without her mask, the man “put his hands on (her) and pushed (her)”. He can be heard denying the assertions in the video.

“You can’t stop me, it’s a free country,” she complained to the staff, adding: “you don’t own the shop.”

Commenting on the video, health minister Khairy Jamaluddin said his ministry was seeking more information from the mall.

“‘When in Rome, do as the Romans do’. When in Malaysia, please mask up. Regardless of the rules elsewhere,” he said.

Reacting to the video, @gelzkook, said, “hahaha lol it’s a free country but (it is) still in a pandemic, you should follow the protocols, they don’t care if you’re high class, rules are rules, period.”

“How did she get to enter KLCC without a mask in the first place?” asked @paan_azam13. “Confirm the security (were too lazy to) argue. But I stand with these guys for not letting her enter the shop.”
