In a Facebook post, her father Saiful Nizam said the talk was part of the Unicef East Asia and Pacific’s “Inspire” Conference, which is taking place online from Nov 1-5.

Ain is one of just seven people from the region invited to speak at the session.

“During the discussion, Ain will offer insights and suggestions on the current situation of children’s rights in Malaysia, especially as it relates to access to quality education, improving safety in schools, mental well-being, policy, and more,” he said.

The theme of the conference will be “ending violence against children during Covid-19 and beyond,” and will be streamed on Facebook and Zoom.

Ain’s selection stems from her efforts in spearheading the #MakeSchoolASaferPlace social media movement.

She first gained national attention in April when she posted a TikTok video outlining jokes her male physical education teacher made about rape during class.

After her video went viral, others were quick to share their own stories and conversations around school safety quickly began to spread online.

In August, Saiful was reported to have said that Ain had been slapped with a RM1 million defamation lawsuit by the teacher who was accused of making lewd remarks. This was after police said they would not take any further action against the teacher who allegedly made inappropriate rape jokes in class.

Ain’s parents later filed a RM5 million counter suit for causing her emotional distress.
