PETALING JAYA: Some 870,000 people who lost their incomes due to the Covid-19 pandemic will get a one-off RM500 payment from tomorrow.
Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the cash was being given under the special Covid-19 assistance and the loss of income aid schemes based on data by the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) and the Social Security Organisation (Socso).
“This aid will involve RM434 million to ensure that the welfare of families is taken care of,” said Ismail in a statement.
He also said people could check on the approval status of the aid at https://bkp.hasil.gov.my.
“We hope the aid and other forms of cash assistance given out by the government will help reduce the financial burden of Malaysian families who are going through this difficult time,” he said.
