Minister Radzi Jidin said his ministry was discussing the matter with the health ministry before making a decision.
Radzi said the increase in the vaccination rate of Form 5 students has been encouraging, with 371,696 or 97% having received the first dose of the vaccine and 57.9% (142,655 students) having completed the vaccination process.
“Students have started returning to school and the SOPs have been implemented well. We may consider allowing some groups of students to attend physical classes on a non-rotational basis.
“We can possibly start with Form 5 students and those who will be sitting for the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) examination,” Bernama reported him as saying after visiting SK Tengku Zainun, Tampin today.
Meanwhile, Radzi said a total of 339,951 students were allowed to attend physical classes in the areas that had moved into Phase 4 of the national recovery plan (NRP), namely Negeri Sembilan, Labuan and Langkawi, beginning yesterday and today.
Previously, the ministry announced that schools in states that had moved into Phase 4 of the NRP would be reopened on Nov 1. This involves Level 1 (Year 1, 2 and 3) primary school students, as well as Form 3 and 4 students in secondary schools.
Classes for those in Level 2 (Year 4, 5 and 6) in primary schools, as well as those in Remove Class, Form 1 and 2 in secondary schools will begin on Nov 8.
In the meantime, Radzi said the rotational face-to-face classes and home-based teaching and learning (PdPR) sessions were running smoothly.
