PETALING JAYA:
The Election Commission (EC) has denied several media reports which stated that only the vaccinated will be allowed to vote during the upcoming Melaka state election.

In a statement clarifying the matter, EC chairman Abdul Ghani Salleh said the Covid-19 SOP for the 15th Melaka polls have yet to be finalised.

“The SOP will be based on the views and advice of the National Security Council , the health ministry and the Royal Malaysia Police from time to time.”

Earlier today, Bernama reported that only fully vaccinated individuals will be able to vote in the polls.

The report quoted Abdul Ghani as saying the EC will also issue proposed time slots for voting through a system similar to MySejahtera.

“Voters should avoid going out all together in the morning. If possible, let senior citizens vote in the morning and the younger people in the afternoon,” the report said.
