In a Facebook post, Lim said the MCA president should not be wasting any time when he was the one that first made the challenge to debate the issue.
Yesterday, Wee maintained that he was all for debating the issue but told Lim to choose any date after the budget is tabled. He added that TV3 producers had also contacted his office and proposed that the debate be held on Nov 2.
“Don’t use the budget as an excuse. In fact, this issue should be resolved before the budget is tabled because it involves the future of the nation’s digital economy and billions in high-technology investments.
“If he can go to London, can’t he spend one hour to debate with me?” he asked, questioning why the minister was on a working trip to the UK if he really wanted to focus on the budget.
“I say this again: On Oct 23, let’s hold a live debate before all Malaysians,” he told Wee.
Yesterday, the MCA man had also told Lim not to “make up stories” that he had created a WhatsApp group for the two of them and Dewan Rakyat Speaker Azhar Harun over the debate, showing screenshots of the supposed conversation which he stamped as fake.
However, Lim told Wee that those were not “screenshots” of an actual WhatsApp conversation but was an online meme.
He questioned if Wee knew what a meme was, explaining that the “screenshots” were meant to poke fun at the issue and were clearly made up by netizens.
“He assumed that the meme was an actual WhatsApp screenshot, and now he’s trying to divert attention by complaining and alleging he was slandered?”
