BERA:
Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob advised teachers who have not been vaccinated against Covid-19 to get the jab immediately to protect themselves and their students.

Although vaccination is not compulsory for teachers, he said they are at risk of increasing infections as they will be starting face-to-face teaching and learning sessions (PdP) soon.

“For example, primary school teachers who have not been vaccinated will not only put their students at risk but also their fellow teachers. That is why the education ministry is being firm on vaccinations.

“If we are not vaccinated, our presence can endanger others. We should be responsible for protecting our colleagues and, more importantly, the students,” he added.

The prime minister said this at the presentation of computers to students in the Bera parliamentary constituency at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bera Bandar 32 here today.

Ismail also reminded those not vaccinated that they stand to lose many of the privileges offered to those who are fully jabbed.

The health ministry has reported that 21,430,294 people, or 91.5% of the adult population in the country, had completed their Covid-19 vaccination as of yesterday.

On booster doses for target groups like medical frontliners and the elderly with comorbidities, 3,181 have received theirs yesterday, bringing the total number to 18,766.

As for teenagers aged 12 to 17, 22.8% or 716,332 of them have completed their vaccination as of yesterday, while 77.9% or 2,450,352 others have received at least the first dose of the vaccine since the vaccination programme for this group was launched on Sept 8.
