
He said the sale of these kits in supermarkets is also expected to be implemented by the end of October.
Alexander said the ministry is conducting an assessment at the industry level before determining the new wholesale and retail prices.
“The government has received feedback from industry players on what the price should be to ensure adequate and continuous supply.
“I hope everyone involved will cooperate for the benefit of all parties,” he said in a statement.
He said his ministry will intensify efforts to monitor prices and competition as a result of the expansion of the sale of such kits to other places besides pharmacies and clinics.
Alexander said the self-test kits are important in the battle against Covid-19 and there are six million sets on sale in the local market.
On Sept 5, the government fixed RM19.90 as the maximum price for retail sale and RM16 as the wholesale price of each test kit.
