9,751 Covid-19 cases, 12,724 recoveries

This brings the total number of infections in the country to 2,323,478.

PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry has reported 9,751 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours.

In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 2,323,478.

He said there were 12,724 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 2,170,289.

There are 792 patients being treated in intensive care, 715 of whom were confirmed and 77 suspected to be Covid-19 positive.

Meanwhile, 386 patients need respiratory assistance, with 302 patients Covid-19 positive and the remaining 84 suspected of being positive.

Selangor recorded the highest number of cases with 1,796.

This was followed by Sarawak (1,339), Kelantan (1,052), Johor (864), Sabah (705), Terengganu (650), Perak (643), Penang (632), Kedah (578), Pahang (551), Kuala Lumpur (313), Melaka (244), Negeri Sembilan (243), Perlis (94), Putrajaya (45) and Labuan (2).

There were 9,736 local infections today, comprising 9,118 Malaysians and 618 foreigners, as well as 15 imported cases.

Noor Hisham said of the new infections, only 2.1% were Category 3, 4 and 5 cases.

The country’s Covid-19 infectivity rate stood at 0.86, with Putrajaya having the highest R-nought level of 1.11.

Perlis is the only state with an R-nought level higher than 1.00 today, at 1.07.
