PETALING JAYA:
The transfer of funds from Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (Yadim) to its subsidiary Lembaran Yadim Sdn Bhd was above board, said minister in the prime minister’s department (religious affairs) Idris Ahmad today.

At the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday, Mahfuz Omar (PH-Pokok Sena) claimed that Islamic propagation institute Yadim had transferred RM2 million to Lembaran Yadim, with RM1 million meant for equity in Islamic streaming service Nurflix, RM500,000 as a soft loan to Lembaran Yadim and another RM500,000 as additional shared capital for investment.

Replying to the issue today, Idris said “the transaction was done properly”.

“If anything happened that was not right, I feel Pokok Sena (Mahfuz) can report it to the relevant parties,” said Idris at the Dewan Rakyat.

He had earlier told Mahfuz to lodge reports with the police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) if he had concerns about the transfer.

Apart from wanting to know whether such a transaction took place, Mahfuz also asked what agreements were made between Yadim and its subsidiary, and whether any audits were carried out.

“I asked to be given an explanation,” said Mahfuz. “The issue is not about whether I want to lodge a report or not.”
