9,890 Covid-19 cases, 12,884 recoveries

This brings the total number of infections to 2,313,727.

PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry has reported 9,890 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours.

In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 2,313,727.

He said there were 12,884 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 2,157,565.

There are 827 patients being treated in intensive care, 782 of whom were confirmed and 45 suspected to be Covid-19 positive.

Meanwhile, 445 patients required respiratory assistance, with 336 patients Covid-19 positive and the remaining 109 suspected of being positive.

Sarawak recorded the highest number of cases with 1,413.

This was followed by Selangor (1,402), Kelantan (1,032), Johor (993), Sabah (820), Perak (794), Penang (721), Terengganu (699), Pahang (564), Kedah (503), Melaka (260), Kuala Lumpur (250), Perlis (200), Negeri Sembilan (180) and Putrajaya (59).

Labuan did not record any new cases today.

There were 9,872 local infections today – comprising 9,294 Malaysians and 578 foreigners – as well as 18 imported cases.

Noor Hisham said that of the new infections, only 1.6% were Category 3, 4 and 5 cases.

The country’s Covid-19 infectivity rate stood at 0.86, with Negeri Sembilan having the highest R-nought level of 0.99.

There are no states with R-noughts higher than 1.00 today.
