SHAH ALAM: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) arrested five employees of a hospital on suspicion of soliciting and accepting bribes from agents over funeral arrangements for deceased patients.
According to MACC sources, these activities are believed to have been carried out from 2019 to 2021 and involved bribes totalling more than RM20,000.
Sources said it is understood that the suspects, all male and aged 34 to 44, were arrested at about 3pm at the Selangor MACC office today when they were present to give statements.
Selangor MACC director Alias Salim confirmed the arrests and said the suspects were being investigated under Section 17 (a) of the MACC Act 2009, and would be produced before the Shah Alam magistrate’s court tomorrow for a remand application.
