Explain RM15mil for Chinese independent schools, says PAS Youth

Wing’s deputy chief also wants to know how much allocation was provided to private tahfiz schools.

PAS Youth deputy chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari has submitted his query on Chinese independent schools for the education minister to answer in the Dewan Rakyat.
PETALING JAYA:
PAS Youth has urged the education ministry to explain a RM15 million allocation for Chinese independent schools.

In making the call, the wing’s deputy chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari also questioned how much allocation was provided to private tahfiz schools throughout the pandemic.

Fadhli, who is Pasir MAS MP, said he had submitted the questions for the education minister to answer during question time in the Dewan Rakyat.

“We will wait for the minister’s response, but this is an issue that needs to be explained,” he said in a Facebook post.

The allocation was recently revealed by Dong Zong president Tan Tai Kim in a Malaysiakini report. This was confirmed by deputy education minister Mah Hang Soon.

Umno had in 2019 agreed with then prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s assertion that Dong Zong was racist.

Then, Umno vice-president Ismail Sabri Yaakob alleged that Dong Zong would only champion issues related to the Chinese community. He also warned them against angering Malays and Muslims.
