In a statement, the division said he was not the head of the division when he rejoined Umno today, and had in fact resigned in 2020 after failing to win the party’s vice-presidency in the elections.
It was reported earlier today that Erwan had quit the party and returned to Umno.
While handing over his form to Putrajaya Umno chief Tengku Adnan Mansor, Erwan said he left Bersatu because only Umno could uphold and defend Malay privileges, the Federal Constitution and the monarchy.
Putrajaya Bersatu meanwhile said it was unaffected by his decision to resign, and has been attracting more new members since he left.
“The division has set up nine more branches with 1,030 new members and continues to help the citizens through many programmes and different forms of assistance,” it said.
