11,889 Covid-19 cases, 15,891 recoveries

There are 904 patients being treated in intensive care and 492 requiring respiratory assistance.

PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry has reported 11,889 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 15,891 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 2,070,715.

In a statement, Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 2,257,584.

There were 904 patients in intensive care, 850 of whom were confirmed Covid-19 positive and 54 suspected of being infected.

Meanwhile, 492 patients required respiratory assistance, with 380 patients Covid-19 positive and the remaining 112 suspected of being positive.

Sarawak recorded the highest number of cases with 2,413.

This was followed by Selangor (1,568), Johor (1,217), Perak (959), Sabah (872), Kelantan (858), Pahang (831), Penang (779), Kedah (710), Terengganu (699), Melaka (378), Kuala Lumpur (289), Negeri Sembilan (197), Perlis (81), Putrajaya (36), and Labuan (2).

There were 11,875 local infections today – involving 11,000 Malaysians and 875 foreigners – and 14 imported cases.

Noor Hisham said that of the new infections, only 1.5% of patients were in Category 3, 4 or 5 at the time of diagnosis.

The country’s Covid-19 infectivity rate stood at 0.90, with Putrajaya having the highest R-nought level of 1.02.

All other states recorded R-noughts of less than 1.0 while Labuan had an R-nought of zero.
