PETALING JAYA:
A total of 2.72 million foreigners have been given at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, science, technology and innovation minister Dr Adham Baba said.

He said this in a written reply to Dr Lee Boon Chye (PH-Gopeng), who asked for the number of foreigners who have and have not received the vaccine.

“(A total of) 1.59 million foreigners have been given a complete dose free of charge to ensure vaccinations are accessible to as many as possible especially in epidemic control areas or epicentres,” he said.

Adham also said that according to the records of the statistics department published on Aug 22, there were 2.69 million foreigners in the country out of a total population of 32.66 million.

This is in addition to the 179,455 refugees and asylum seekers from 56 countries registered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) as of July 31.
