5.8mil would-be voters can check details next month before automatic registration

5.8 million who have not registered as voters yet can verify their details or file an objection if there are errors in personal information.

Election Commission secretary says prospective voters can check their personal details at the EC website.
KUALA LUMPUR:
As a prelude to the implementation of Undi18 and the automatic registration of voters, Malaysian citizens aged 18 and above can verify their details or file an objection from Oct 1 to Oct 31.

Those who have not been registered as voters will be automatically registered after that date, said Election Commission secretary Ikmalrudin Ishak.

He said a total of 5.8 million prospective voters will be able to check and verify their personal information.

“If an individual finds that their current address is wrongly displayed, they are urged to update their identity card at the national registration department by Oct 31 at the latest,” he said in a statement today.

The checks can be done via two methods, namely at https://mysprsppa.spr.gov.my or by scanning the QR Code of their parliamentary constituencies at the 604 automatic voters verification centres nationwide.

The centres include the state election headquarters or office, post office, district office, land office, district council, municipal council, multipurpose hall, rukun tetangga and penghulu’s office.

The public can contact their state election office, the EC Hotline at 03-88927018 or browse the www.spr.my.gov website for more information.
