He said the research company has a significant number of shares owned by Malaysians as well as a federal agency involved in high-tech matters.

In a statement, Mukhriz said this was based on his assessment of bank transfer documents shown by Kedah menteri besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor during a press conference on Sept 23.

Last week, Sanusi revealed that RM13 million in MBI funds were transferred to a Barclays Bank account in Canada during Mukhriz’s time as menteri besar.

Mukhriz again denied insinuations or claims that he was a beneficiary of profits made by MBI, and repeated his pledge to cooperate with any investigation.

“Sanusi should immediately lodge a report to the authorities over this transfer if he feels there are elements of power abuse.

“I believe the statement made by Sanusi was intended to sully my good name and image without making any specific remarks that could elicit a lawsuit,” he said.

Mukhriz said Sanusi has to be more careful with his words, and reminded him that his statements are not personal opinions, but a reflection of the state he leads.

He said he will not hesitate to take further action if Sanusi continues making disparaging remarks against him.

Last week, when asked if he would lodge a report with the authorities, Sanusi said it was up to them to investigate the matter, as these agencies “are likely reading the newspapers”.
