The public can expect theme parks nationwide to open in late November, which is when 90% of the country’s adults are scheduled to be fully vaccinated, said deputy tourism, arts and culture minister Edmund Santhara Kumar.

He said the reopening of parks was however subject to approval by the National Security Council (MKN) and the health ministry, which are currently studying proposed SOPs (standard operating procedures) on the matter.

Speaking to reporters at the Lost World of Tambun on his one-day working visit today, he said tourism industry players are currently preparing to revive the tourism sector which had been severely affected by the pandemic.

Last Thursday, tourism, arts and culture minister Nancy Shukri said the decision on the reopening of theme parks in the country would be announced soon.
