Sanusi said it appeared that former menteri besar Mukhriz Mahathir was “genuinely surprised” by his revelation on the matter yesterday. “I want to correct the perception that many took from my earlier statement that the transfer was carried out by Mukhriz himself. I now feel that Mukhriz does not know about this and was genuinely surprised.
“It was a transfer to a Barclays Bank account. I can’t reveal any more details as there could be a probe,” he said in a press conference after the Kedah state assembly today.
Sanusi added that he will fully cooperate with any investigation into the matter.
When asked if his office plans to lodge a police report, he said they are likely to take action based on news reports.
Yesterday, Sanusi revealed that a bank transfer had taken place between Menteri Besar Incorporated, a state-owned company, and a Canadian bank account, when Mukhriz was the menteri besar.
He also claimed to have kept the transfer slip as evidence.
Mukhriz has since asked for a full disclosure of the issue and asked Sanusi not to turn it into some political propaganda.
Meanwhile, Sanusi said if the need arises, full disclosure will be made.
He added that as a menteri besar, one should be fully aware of his surroundings and the matters concerning the state government.
“It is my responsibility to know about everything and to keep abreast about everything that involves the state government.
“I was told not to worry about the small things that are going on but I need to know everything that is happening, especially things like this (Canadian bank transfer).”
