PETALING JAYA:
Putrajaya is developing a single digital platform for everyone who needs to access government assistance, and hopes to finalise it by the end of October.

Economic affairs minister Mustapa Mohamed said this would ensure nobody in need is left behind.

“At the moment we have many agencies providing aid to the people. Aside from the welfare department and its activities, scholarships and food aid are being provided by more than 20 agencies. However, there’s no coordination,” he said.

“What’s being done now, and it’s progressing quite well, is (the development of) a single digital platform where government officials have access to how much help a single individual is getting, or whether he or she is getting any help at all,” he said in his speech at the 2021 Malaysian Banking and Finance Summit today.

“With that, hopefully we can eliminate any exclusion errors.”

He added that the government would also be able to ensure that nobody was getting more than they needed at the expense of those who have missed out.

“All agencies providing help would be required to furnish details. By doing that, we are in a better position to prevent duplication and also make sure that those who deserve help get help.”
