
The PKR president said this was because there were many similarities between the Muslim and Chinese calendars.
He went on to say that he had always emphasised on the importance of reading about and studying the various cultures, including ancient tales to better understand the cultures of “our neighbours”.
“This indirectly boosts harmony,” he said in a Facebook post in wishing the Chinese community.
He said the tale of Chang’e, the Chinese moon goddess and her lover, Hou Yi was one of love and sacrifice, values of which many cultures in the country shared.
The festival, also known as the Mooncake Festival normally falls on the 15th day of the eighth month of the Chinese lunar calendar.
It is regarded as the second most important festival in China after Chinese New Year.
